Bears are an easy task close to wildly ditch. No need to safespot unless you are a fresh account though there are numerous tree stumps that can be used though I can’t say specifically if they are good or efficient.
To escape obviously you run south to get away, or if you are getting frozen try to make it half way to the zammy mage to get teleported to the Abyss
